American Cockroach
American Cockroach
Often referred to as a tree roach. This is one of the most common insects a homeowner will encounter along with the smokey brown cockroach. American cockroaches are one of the largest species of roaches measuring up to almost 2 inches in length. They are reddish-brown in color. These cockroaches can fly short distances, especially when they are threatened. American cockroaches are scavengers and will eat just about anything, including garbage, pet food, and dead insects. They prefer to live outside but occasionally will enter the home from the sewer or through an entry point, searching for food, water or just trying to escape shifts in weather. American cockroaches reproduce quickly and can lay up to 50 eggs at a time. They are known carriers of viruses like dysentery, diarrhea, and the Salmonella bacteria. They have been known to survive for weeks without food or water and can live up to a year. The good news is we have you covered. We recommend our Initial Treatment and maintenance subscription. What other things can help reduce tree roach activity in your home? It is essential to keep your home clean and tidy, especially in the kitchen. Seal all food containers, trash cans, and pet food containers securely, and eliminate all clutter in your home, especially in areas where roaches are likely to hide. It would also help if you fixed any leaks or plumbing issues in your home, as roaches are attracted to moisture. Seal any gaps or cracks in your house to prevent roaches from entering through these areas. Remove any outdoor clutter from around your residence, such as piles of firewood or trash, as roaches can hide in these areas and eventually migrate indoors.
