Rats & Mice
Rats and Mice
Roof rats are what we encounter the most on the job. These rodents usually are 6-8 inches in length not including the tail whereas mice are about 3 inches or smaller without the tail. Known for their ability to cause damage and spread diseases. Roof rats are agile climbers that often nest in elevated areas like attics, rafters, and trees. They have a slender body, large ears, and a pointed nose. Mice seek shelter indoors nesting in wall voids, cabinets, and other secluded areas. Both rodents are prolific breeders, with a single pair capable of producing dozens of offspring in a year. Their presence can lead to property damage through gnawing on wires, insulation, and wood, while also posing health risks through the transmission of diseases such as leptospirosis, salmonellosis, and hantavirus. Our no obligation initial visit is what we would recommend here along with sealing up the entry points shortly after our appointment. An entry points list will be provided with this service. It would be a good idea to go for our maintenance subscription as well since rodents can be a reoccurring problem due to their habits. Other methods to reduce rodent activity include trimming foliage around the property , reducing water/food sources such as bird feeders or bird baths. Store food in secure containers that make it difficult for rodents to access such as totes or tupperware. Repair water leaks and clean underneath kitchen appliances. All of these adjustments will set you up for success.
