Spiders
Spiders
They are classified as arachnids because they have 8 legs. Spiders are common in Texas due to its warm and humid climate and are found on every continent except Antarctica. There are over 900 known species in Texas. Spiders play an important role in controlling populations of insects. They are resistant to most treatments since their habits are very different compared to most bugs. However, we have found that having regular pest control visits eliminates their food supply (insects) therefore making your home less appealing to them. As part of our initial no obligation service and maintenance subscription we also sweep down any webs we see on the outside. This makes spiders move elsewhere to look for a more suitable place to hang their web. In addition to our services, here are some useful tips to reduce spider activity around the home. Bright outdoor lighting can attract insects, which in turn attract spiders. To reduce spider activity, use less bright yellow lights, sodium vapor lights and avoid leaving them on overnight. REDUCE THE CLUTTER. Spiders prefer dark cluttered areas like piles of bricks, boxes and rocks. Seal them out with caulk and construction putty. Implement these protocols and you will notice a large improvement over time.
